Unfortunately without an exception the Muslim scholars the Ulema have never interpreted any command in Quran to have had the connotation to acquire modern scientific education. The words “reading”, “knowledge”, “education”, “learning” and “understanding” recurrently occurring in Quran have invariably construed to have been associated with religion only. The meaning of the word “wisdom” so frequently used in Quran for the “intelligence” granted to mankind has been shrewdly twisted to denote the “Sunnah” the personal conduct of Prophet Muhammad. Later on the Ulema did expand the sphere of religious education since they wanted to enlarge the religion itself beyond Quran but ingeniously kept it restricted stringently to the studies concerned only with religious confines. Third century AH (After Hijrah) witnessed the emergence of an era firmly institutionalizing the Hadith culture as one of the various extensions to the Quran. The then invented, collected and compiled sayings attributed to the Prophet, his wives, his relatives, companions and companions of the companions, got incorporated as one of the additional parallel sources at par with Quran. The approach towards education remained still the same, in the name of education the Muslims merely studied and till now continuing to study nothing but the Quran, Hadith, Sunnah, Fiqh, Shariah etc. A too dissimilar imitation of modern day school the “Madarsa” as well failed to impart much desired scientific education in any form at any stage of studentship. Just to placate the discontented super power bosses whose writ reigns supreme in all the spheres of world affairs, the computers and computer education have recently been incorporated in Madarsa curriculum but remaining true to their ill tutored ideology no tangible change for good has so far taken place and traces of modern scientific education are yet to be seen.  Read more...
